NewJeans launched a brand-new Instagram account on December 14 under the username jeanzforfree. They shared a video in which all the members appeared, greeting their fans with “Hello everyone, it’s really us!”
NewJeans has previously used the Instagram account named newjeans_official, but their new account “jeanzforfree” does not include the group’s name “NewJeans” in the handle.
NewJeans recently unilaterally announced the termination of their exclusive contract with their management company, ADOR, which is under HYBE. In response, ADOR denied this and issued a statement stating they would file a lawsuit to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract. If NewJeans officially separates from HYBE, they may face the situation of being unable to use the group name or their songs in the future. Amidst this uncertainty about their career prospects, NewJeans opened a brand-new Instagram account, and the public is closely watching ADOR’s next move.
On the other hand, NewJeans’ advertising contract with Shinhan Bank has officially ended.
Since 2022, NewJeans has been the spokesperson for Shinhan Bank’s banking app “NEW SOL,” and later became the brand ambassador for the Shinhan Bank Group, signing a two-year endorsement deal. However, Shinhan Bank ultimately decided not to extend the collaboration.
A representative from Shinhan Bank stated that the advertising contract with NewJeans for the NEW SOL brand will conclude in December and will not be extended. However, some of the NewJeans commercials that have already been filmed will continue to be released until March of next year.
