Last December, all members of (G)I-DLE announced their contract renewals, and Chinese member Song Yuqi discussed her reason for making this decision.
During an interview with YouTube channel “TT STUDIO”, other guests mentioned to Yuqi: “Yuqi, you’re already very popular, and when it came time for contract renewal, China must have given you many offers. Moreover, given China’s large market size, you could have considered developing your career there.”
In response, Yuqi said: “To be honest, if I was only interested in making money, I would have returned to China long ago. But I chose to renew my contract because I want to continue doing what I love.” She further added: “Actually, as a foreigner, the process of participating in audition programs was really tough. I was a good student back then, but I had big arguments with my parents because of this dream before coming to Korea. I believe I made the right choice in choosing this path.”
